Best Teen Dramas to Watch

Want to pull out your hair and maybe even scream at your device in a violent rage. Then I have the perfect list of teen dramas for you. But be warned you may end up with.

or

1. Never Have I Ever

Never Have I Ever follows Devi Vishwakumar after regaining the ability to walk after becoming disabled for a year(post dead dad); we see her story as she tries to reclaim her identity in highschool and we as an audience follow that.My favourite messy teenager in the history of all messy teenagers is Devi and for good reason she portrayed amazingly by Maitreyi Ramakrishnan. Though, she makes some of the dumbest decisions I have ever seen, Devi and Never Have I Ever has a special place in my heart and if you haven’t watched it I would greatly recommend it. #benvi4life

2. Skam

Skam -one of the best teen dramas that not nearly enough people talk about. Ps. when I am talking about describing the original (some would say the best) . Skam has 4 seasons based on each character of the friend group starting with Eva who recently lost her friends and is trying to gradually build herself up again. This show though it has some flaws as it is the original it is amazing with some fantastic messages. Side note if you want to learn some Norwegian that’s a great bonus. Plus if you like the series you have a bunch of different versions in different languages to watch. Soooooo that is a pretty good deal.

3. On My Block

On My Block follows 4 teenagers who are living on the rough streets of LA and dealing with the struggles of gangs and the clutches they hold. Some of the funniest characters and character duos ever come from this show. I mean who doesn’t love the teen who is constantly being left behind and a wisecracking grandmother. Add some mystery gold and the daily struggles of teenage life: school, love and parents. This teen drama is the perfect recipe for series binge.

4. Derry Girls

Irish accent – check.Funny – check. The future Penelope Brigerton – check. Want all these things then watch Derry girls. As an audience we watch the 5 teenagers(who attend a Catholic Girls’ school) struggle with a typical teenage life and issues that come with that. Whilst, in the midst of a national conflict and set in the 1980s.

5. Maxton Hall

James Beauford created standards that I will be expecting in all relationships. That’s all I have to say about that. However, a quick summary: Ruby Bell unwillingly witnesses a dangerous secret and therefore James has to deal with the smart scholarship student and we watch their relationship blossom into something more than enemies. And we have the fun bonus of learning ein bisschen Deutsch.

6. The Summer I Turned Pretty

The love triangle to end all triangles. My queen Jenny Han sure knows how to write a teenager. Also, a love triangle that I genuinely think I would fight someone over. #teamconradforlife #fightme. Nonetheless, as an audience we just follow Belly having the summer of her life and getting into a love triangle and playing some volleyball along the way. Do you want to have a high level of stress and some teeth to fall out? Then watch The Summer I Turned Pretty.

7. Sex Education

More awkward teens – lovely(kind of the peak of teen dramas). We watch as Otis (son of sex therapist) and Mavis (an icon who can see a great hustle) set up an underground sex therapy clinic in school. They have honestly tackled the business game well knowing their audience they create bank. But we watch as the main characters deal with their lives and the struggles that come with being a teenager in modern day as well as this (morally grey) clinic and we learn to wash our hands because no one likes a Detty Pig.

8. The Carrie Diaries

A spin-off from the iconic series Sex and the City. We follow young Carrie Bradshaw and her first interactions with the city whilst dealing with home life, school and friendships and even new relationships. Yes, Carrie has some experiences for 15 year olds that seem not completely possible but did we ever look at Sex and the City being extremely realistic – NO. But, this show is a fun, entertaining watch I would recommend you watch.

9. Skins

Dark, edgy and concerningly pushing boundaries. Skins has it all.We watch a group of teenagers living in Bristol,England and watch them deal with the darker issues surrounding being a teenager such as mental health issues, drugs, teen pregnancy. If you want to feel every emotion, watch this show.

10. Elite

Last but not least. We have Elite. Want to learn Spanish, watch this show. Hasn’t this been such a helpful post for learning languages? We view as three working-class teens enroll in an exclusive private school for the Elite and we see how they integrate into the school (spoiler alert it doesn’t start off well). This show is teen messy in Spanish. What more do you want?

But you have been warned of the risks of these teen dramas but I totally recommend them all so much.
